Home Office Addition in Alamo, CA

This project was published by Sunset, in their book on Garage Conversions, and by The Taunton Press, in their books: Garage and At Work At Home. See the recognition page for more information.

With the doors open, the entire space becomes a working studio. Two additions were constructed- a small tower for mechanical equipment and a combination garage & workshop.

A slate tiled, full bath was inserted into one quadrant of the building so that the studio could also function as a guest house, au pair unit or pool cabana.

The desks are made from a variety of over-sized door slabs. The pedestal is a section of galvanized culvert pipe. The work space was designed to be flexible and casual.

Double sets of french doors echo the original garage doors which they replaced. The "T" shaped desktops make it easy to collaborate on projects as the pool beckons from outside...
